What school would i go to be an anesthesiologist?
To become an anesthesiologist,
1) Complete an accredited bachelor’s degree program.
Prerequisites include biochemistry, biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, and calculus.
Popular majors are biology, chemistry, and math.
2) Take the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test) and apply to medical school.
3) Complete medical school and obtain an MD or DO degree.
Anesthesiology is very competitive.
During your third and fourth years of medical school, you’ll engage in clinical rotations throughout different specialties.
4) Complete a four-year Anesthesiology residency program at an accredited hospital or university.
Residencies involve extensive training in providing anesthetic care to a wide range of patients, including those undergoing major surgery, obstetrics, and pain management procedures.
5) Obtain a license to practice medicine and board certification in anesthesiology.
6) Participate in continuing medical education (CME) and maintenance of certification (MOC) programs.
