Child with Fever: What to Do When Your Child Has a 103.4°F Temperature
Call your child's doctor promptly and follow their advice.
You can also do the following to help:
- Give your child plenty of fluids.
- Dress your child lightly.
- Use a cool compress on your child's forehead and neck.
- Give your child a lukewarm bath.
- Keep your child in a comfortable environment at home.
- Stay calm and reassure your child that they will be okay.
Do not give your child aspirin or ibuprofen unless your doctor instructs you to do so. These medications can increase the risk of Reye's syndrome, a rare but serious condition that can affect the brain and liver.
