4-Week Pregnancy Ultrasound: What to Expect & Why
It is possible to have a sonogram at 4 weeks of pregnancy, but it is unlikely that you will be able to see much.
At 4 weeks, your baby is about the size of a poppy seed. The embryo is just starting to develop and is not fully formed. The sonogram may show a small sac in your uterus, but you may not be able to see the embryo.
In most cases, the first sonogram is done between 6 and 8 weeks of pregnancy. This is when the embryo is more developed and can be seen more clearly.
However, if you have any concerns about your pregnancy, your doctor may recommend having a sonogram at 4 weeks. This can help to rule out any potential problems, such as a miscarriage.
