Carnation Arrangement Guide: Tips & Techniques for Beautiful Bouquets
A commonly used bouquet flower, the carnation serves as a colorful filler flower in bouquets and arrangements with multiple flower types. Due to their variance in color, carnations match well with a variety of other flowers, from roses and daisies to orchids and wildflowers. Making your own floral arrangements using carnations can be a creative and fulfilling task for even the novice arranger.Things You'll Need
- 40 carnations (assorted)
- Tape measure
- Scissors
- Wide vase
- 10 assorted flowers
- Optional accents
Instructions
Measure the depth of the vase. Cut down the stems of the carnations and other flowers to match the depth.
Place all of the carnations into the vase. Choose carnations of the same color or go for a wild splash of rainbow colors.
Insert up to 10 other flowers throughout the arrangement. Attractive flowers include gerbera daisies, sunflowers or roses. Insert the flowers sporadically in random places or bundle all of them into the center of the arrangement to serve as a contrasting focal point.
Add optional accents to the floral arrangement to create a one-of-a-kind ensemble. For example, tie a decorative silk bow around the base of the vase to add further detail or insert ferns or other greenery among the flowers. Use the floral arrangement as a beautiful centerpiece for a meal or present it as a gift.
