Understanding Nausea in Early Pregnancy: Causes & Timeline
Nausea, commonly referred to as morning sickness, is one of the most common signs of early pregnancy.
It typically begins around the fourth or fifth week of pregnancy and peaks between the eighth and eleventh weeks.
For most women, nausea gradually subsides by the 12th to 14th week of pregnancy. However, some women may experience nausea throughout their entire pregnancy.
In addition to nausea, other early signs and symptoms of pregnancy may include:
* Missed period
* Fatigue
* Breast tenderness
* Frequent urination
* Darkening of the skin around the nipples (areolas)
* A metallic taste in the mouth
* Bloating
* Constipation
* Mood swings
If you are experiencing any of these signs and symptoms, it is important to see your doctor to confirm whether or not you are pregnant.
