Rh Incompatibility & Miscarriage: Timing of RhoGAM for Future Pregnancies
It is generally recommended that women who have had a miscarriage due to Rh incompatibility receive the RhoGAM injection within 72 hours of the miscarriage. However, if more than 72 hours have passed, it is still important to receive the injection as soon as possible. The RhoGAM injection helps to prevent the development of Rh antibodies, which can cause hemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN) in future pregnancies.
If you are planning to get pregnant again, it is important to talk to your doctor about the appropriate timing of the RhoGAM injection. They will be able to determine the best course of action based on your individual circumstances. In some cases, your doctor may recommend that you receive the injection immediately, while in other cases, they may recommend waiting a few months.
It is important to follow your doctor's instructions carefully to ensure that you are protected from Rh antibodies and that your future pregnancies are healthy.
