Pregnancy vs. Period: Understanding Bleeding During Pregnancy
While it is possible to experience bleeding during pregnancy, it is not the same as a menstrual period. Menstrual periods occur when the lining of the uterus (endometrium) is shed and expelled through the vagina. In contrast, pregnancy involves the implantation and growth of a fertilized egg in the endometrium.
Implantation bleeding, which can occur around the time of a woman's expected menstrual period, is different from a menstrual period in that it is usually lighter, shorter, and may be accompanied by mild cramps. Implantation bleeding typically occurs within 10 to 14 days after conception and lasts for a few days.
If you're concerned about pregnancy or have any questions, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional or take a pregnancy test for confirmation.
