When to See an Obstetrician: Pregnancy, Fertility & Gynecological Care
You should see an obstetrician if:
- You are pregnant.
- You are trying to get pregnant.
- You have a gynecologic condition that needs treatment.
- You are experiencing any abnormal symptoms during pregnancy, such as:
- Bleeding
- Pain
- Vomiting
- Swelling
- Headaches
You should also see an obstetrician if you have any risk factors for pregnancy complications, such as:
- Age 35 or older
- Multiple pregnancies
- Diabetes
- High blood pressure
- Obesity
- Smoking
- Alcohol use
- Drug use
- Previous pregnancy complications
