Fetal Fibronectin Test Positive at 34 Weeks: What Does It Mean for Labor?
There is no guarantee about when you will go into labor, even with two positive fetal fibronectin tests. The fetal fibronectin test measures the amount of the protein fibronectin in your cervical mucus. Fibronectin is present in the cervix during pregnancy and may increase before your water breaks or you go into labor. However, having two positive tests does not mean you will go into labor early. The test is not 100% accurate and some women who have positive tests do not go into labor early, while some women who have negative tests do go into labor early.
Talk to your doctor or midwife about the results of your fetal fibronectin tests. They can help you understand what the results mean and what to expect next.
