Late Period & Negative Pregnancy Test: Possible Pregnancy?
It is still possible to be pregnant, even if you have had negative pregnancy tests and are two weeks late on your period.
Reasons for a late period:
- Implantation bleeding: This is light bleeding or spotting that can occur when the fertilized egg implants in the lining of the uterus. It can happen 10 to 14 days after ovulation and can be mistaken for a period.
- Variations in menstrual cycle length: Menstrual cycles can vary in length from month to month, even in women who usually have regular cycles. A late period does not always mean that you are pregnant.
- Stress, illness, or other lifestyle changes: Stress, illness, weight gain or loss, and other lifestyle changes can all affect your menstrual cycle and cause it to be late.
Pregnancy Symptoms:
- Lower abdominal cramps
- A recent pimple
- Nausea
- Fatigue
- Breast tenderness
- Bloating
- Food aversions
- Mood swings
If you are concerned that you may be pregnant, it is important to see a healthcare provider for a blood test. A blood test can detect pregnancy even earlier than a urine pregnancy test.
