Negative Pregnancy Test But Feeling Pregnant? Possible Reasons & What To Do
You may be pregnant
A negative pregnancy test does not necessarily mean that you are not pregnant. There are a few reasons why you may have had a negative pregnancy test even though you are pregnant:
* You are not far enough along in your pregnancy. Home pregnancy tests are most accurate after a missed period. If you took the test too early, it may not have been able to detect the pregnancy hormone (hCG) in your urine.
* You did not take the test correctly. Make sure you followed the instructions on the package carefully. If you did not, the test may not have worked properly.
* Your urine was too diluted. If you drank a lot of fluids before taking the test, your urine may have been too diluted to detect the hCG.
* You have a medical condition that is interfering with the test. Some medical conditions, such as thyroid problems or kidney disease, can affect the results of pregnancy tests.
* You have a low level of hCG sometimes the levels are too low for the urine dipstick test to detect in early pregnancy - a blood hcg test is more sensitive and will pick up lower levels of hcg
If you are still concerned that you may be pregnant, talk to your doctor. They can give you a definitive answer by ordering a blood pregnancy test.
