Early Pregnancy Symptoms: What to Expect in the First Weeks
Early pregnancy symptoms:
* Missed period. This is the most common early sign of pregnancy.
* Sore breasts. Your breasts may become tender, swollen, and darker in color.
* Nausea and vomiting (morning sickness). This usually starts around 6 weeks of pregnancy and peaks around 8-12 weeks.
* Fatigue. You may feel very tired, especially in the first few weeks of pregnancy.
* Frequent urination. You may need to urinate more often, especially at night.
* Bloating. Your belly may start to bloat as your uterus grows.
* Mood swings. You may experience mood swings, including feeling more emotional or irritable than usual.
* Food cravings or aversions. You may have strong cravings for certain foods or an aversion to foods you used to enjoy.
* Headaches. You may experience headaches more often during pregnancy.
* Constipation. Constipation is a common problem during pregnancy due to the increased levels of progesterone, which can slow down your digestion.
* Spotting or light bleeding. Some women experience light bleeding or spotting during early pregnancy. This is usually normal, but it's always a good idea to talk to your doctor if you're concerned.
You could take a pregnancy test, that tests for human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone produced by the placenta to support the pregnancy.
