Irregular Periods & Pregnancy: When to Take a Test
If your period is irregular, you should test for pregnancy if:
- You have had unprotected sex and you are concerned that you may be pregnant.
- Your period is more than 7 days late.
- You have other symptoms of pregnancy, such as nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness, or fatigue.
If you have irregular periods, you may want to track your cycle to get a better understanding of when you are ovulating and when your period is due. You can do this by using a calendar, an app, or a fertility monitor.
If you are concerned that you may be pregnant, you should talk to your doctor or midwife. They can give you a pregnancy test and provide you with information and support.
