Early Pregnancy Signs: What to Expect on the First Day
1. Implantation bleeding This is light spotting or bleeding that occurs when the fertilized egg implants in the lining of the uterus. It can happen 6 to 12 days after conception.
2. Breast tenderness Your breasts may become swollen, tender, or sore. This is caused by the increased levels of the hormone progesterone.
3. Fatigue You may feel very tired, even if you've gotten enough sleep. This is because the increased levels of progesterone can cause low blood sugar levels.
4. Nausea and vomiting This is a common symptom of pregnancy, but it doesn't always happen. Nausea usually starts around 6 weeks after conception and peaks around 8 weeks.
5. Food aversions You may suddenly start disliking foods that you used to like, or you may crave foods that you don't normally eat. This is caused by the changes in your hormone levels.
6. Constipation This is a common problem during pregnancy. It can be caused by the increased levels of progesterone, which can slow down your digestion.
7. Mood swings You may experience mood swings, from feeling happy and optimistic to feeling sad and irritable. This is caused by the changes in your hormone levels.
8. Missed period If you've missed your period and you're not pregnant, you should see a doctor to rule out other causes.
