Safe & Easy Electrode Pad Removal: A Step-by-Step Guide
Electrode pads are self-adhesive pads that allow your doctor to attach electrodes for heart monitoring and back pain relief. A TENS unit is a machine that applies small electrical currents to your back muscles, helping relieve pain. TENS units require electrode pads and are used in the privacy of your own home. To remove electrode pads, you must ensure that your TENS unit is turned off to prevent shock or skin burns.
Instructions
Remove your electrodes from the pad by gently pulling them off of the built in pad snaps. Only remove the electrodes once you have completely shut your equipment off.
Grasp the corner of your electrode pad, firmly. Gently peel away from the skin, not upward. Pulling the pad upward can tear delicate skin tissue, causing sores or burns.
Cleanse your skin with mild soap and cool water to remove electrode gel and leftover adhesive.
Dispose of your used pads by placing them back on the original lining and throwing them into the garbage.
