Backup Birth Control: Using Protection During Your First Month
During the first week on birth control, most doctors recommend that you use some type of backup protection. This gives your body time to adjust to the drugs. Condoms, diaphragms and spermicides all work as backup birth controls. The uses of these products won't counteract the birth control pills. It's important to remember that even with backup birth control and birth control pills, you are not 100 percent protected from pregnancy. Also note that birth control pills do not stop the transfer of sexually transmitted diseases.Things You'll Need

- Spermicide
Instructions
Take your birth control at the same time each day.
Before sexual intercourse, have your partner put on the condom. Or put in your diaphragm.
