Obstetricians: Who Delivers and Cares for Newborns?

The kind of doctors that deals with babies, delivers them and then cleans them up are called Obstetricians. Obstetricians are doctors who specialize in pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. They are trained to provide care for women during all stages of pregnancy, including prenatal care, labor and delivery, and postpartum care. Obstetricians also perform newborn deliveries, including vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections. After the baby is born, the Obstetrician will clean the baby up, including removing the vernix caseosa (a waxy substance that covers the baby's skin), checking the baby's vital signs, and administering any necessary medications or treatments.
