Gradual Formula Transition: Mixing Soy & Milk-Based Formulas for Babies
Switching formulas for your baby is best done by gradually transitioning from one type of formula to another. You can help your baby's body make a smoother transition by mixing different kinds of formula for a couple of days until the baby's body gets used to the new formula. Mixing soy and milk-based formulas is common if you are switching from one formula to another. Allergies typically are the reason for a formula switch. Milk allergies are one reason to switch an infant from a milk-based to a soy-based formula.Things You'll Need
- Milk-based formula
- Soy-based formula
- Water
- 2 separate containers
Instructions
Mix the milk-based formula as directed on the formula can. Make sure to measure the formula powder accurately with the exact number of scoops.
Blend the soy-based formula powder and water as directed on the can in a separate container from the milk-based formula.
Combine the milk-based and soy-based formulas by pouring one kind of formula into the bottle and then the other.
Pour the desired amount of each type of formula then stir the milk and soy-based formulas together.
Transition your baby little by little, starting by using more of the soy formula and a little milk-based and then slowly increasing the milk-based formula every couple of days until you have a full bottle of milk-based formula.
