How to Inject B12
The primary function of vitamin B12 is to produce red blood cells and help maintain a healthy nervous system. A deficiency in B12 can result in anemia, leaving you feeling tired, short of breath, listless and prone to infections. Long-term deficiency can result in neurological damage and nerve degeneration. A B12 deficiency is usually the result of your body's inability to absorb it rather than a dietary issue. Your doctor may prescribe B12 shots to help boost your energy and support your health.Things You'll Need
- Liquid vitamin B12
- Syringe and needle
- Clean cotton balls
- Alcohol
Instructions
Read the instructions on the package thoroughly and follow them exactly as instructed.
Wash your hands well with soap and water before handling the syringe.
Select a muscular area of the body for the shot and dab it with a clean cotton ball soaked in alcohol. Each time you administer the shot, choose a different area. Your doctor will be able to instruct you.
Gently "nip up" the skin and insert the needle into that spot at a 45-degree angle. Release the skin.
Slowly and steadily press down on the plunger and inject the B12. When all of the B12 has been injected, carefully pull the needle out.
Soak a clean cotton ball in alcohol and press it down on the injection site.
Safely dispose of the needle and syringe.
