Bee Pollen: Nutritional Benefits & Vitamin/Mineral Content

Bees collect pollen on their bodies as they visit flowers for food. Upon return to the hive, they clean this pollen off and compress it into a granule. This nutrient-rich bee pollen can be used as a food supplement.
  1. Vitamins

    • The vitamin content of bee pollen includes B-complex vitamins, vitamin D, vitamin C, and vitamin E. Pollen also has high levels of rutin.

    Minerals

    • Bee pollen contains the minerals: Calcium, Chlorine, Copper, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Phosphorous, Potassium, Silicon and Sulfur. It may also have up to fifty-nine different trace minerals.

    Protein

    • Pollen's protein level can be anywhere between 10 and 35 percent, but averages 20 percent. About 5g of protein can be found in 1 tbsp. of bee pollen.

    Antioxidants

    • Bee Pollen contains antioxidants. Antioxidants help the body stabilize free radicals, which cause degenerative processes such as aging.

    Amino Acids

    • Arginine, Methionine, Histidine, Phenylalanine, Isoleucine, Threonine, Leucine, Tryptophane, Lysine and Valine are all amino acids found in bee pollen. Amino acids help the body utilize protein.
