Calculate Your BMI: A Simple Guide & Formula
To calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI), you will need to know your weight in kilograms (kg) and your height in meters (m). Here are the steps to calculate BMI:
1. Convert your weight to kilograms. If your weight is in pounds (lb), divide it by 2.2046 to get your weight in kilograms.
2. Convert your height to meters. If your height is in feet and inches, divide your height in inches by 39.37 to get your height in meters.
3. Calculate your BMI by dividing your weight in kilograms by the square of your height in meters.
The formula for calculating BMI is:
BMI = weight (kg) / [height (m)]²
For example, if you weigh 70 kilograms and your height is 1.75 meters, your BMI would be:
BMI = 70 / (1.75)² = 22.9
