Understanding the Typical Hospital Diet: Calories, Protein & More
A routine hospital diet also called a general diet, usually provides:
- 2,000 to 2,500 calories per day
- 75 to 100 grams of protein a day
- 30% of calories from fat(no more than 10% saturated)
- About half of daily calories from carbohydrates
- Up to 1800 mg of sodium a day
- Potassium usually 3500 mg a day
- Up to 3,500 mg cholesterol a day
