DIY Hydrogen Peroxide Teeth Whitening Gel: A Natural & Affordable Guide

Teeth naturally become dulled and stained over the years, even with proper dental care. Professional whitening can cost hundreds of dollars, and at-home treatments are quite costly as well. You can make a simple whitening gel at home with products that you likely already have. Using a homemade teeth-whitening gel is an effective way to achieve a bright smile without spending money on professional treatments or store-bought remedies.

Instructions

    • 1

Mix 1 tsp. of baking soda with 3 drops of glycerin in a cup until a paste forms. Glycerin is available in most grocery stores and pharmacies.

    • 2

Add 2 tbsp. of hydrogen peroxide to 1 cup of water in a glass and stir with a spoon. Higher concentrations of hydrogen peroxide will produce quicker whitening results. Hydrogen peroxide is usually available in stores in three percent and 12 percent concentrations.

    • 3

Wet a toothbrush with the hydrogen peroxide solution, then dip it in the baking soda paste. Brush your teeth vigorously, re-wetting the brush in the hydrogen peroxide solution periodically.

    • 4

Rinse out your mouth using the remaining hydrogen peroxide solution. Perform the whitening procedure at least three times per week until the desired results are achieved.
