How to Use Peroxide in My Waterpik
A Water Pik is a simple device used to forcibly spray water onto and between teeth to aid cleaning. Although the original idea is to use pure water, you can also use a hydrogen peroxide solution. Peroxide further helps clean teeth and promote dental hygiene, because it kills bacteria and viruses in your mouth. You will know it's working, because peroxide foams when it kills germs, giving a somewhat odd sensation with a weird taste.
Instructions
Prepare a half and half solution of hydrogen peroxide and water. The hydrogen peroxide you will use is normally a three percent solution already, so this will cut it down to 1.5 percent.
Fill the water reservoir of the Water Pik with your hydrogen peroxide and water solution. Usually this is accomplished by simply opening the lid and pouring it in, but consult your Water Pik manual for specific filling instructions.
Use the Water Pik to spray between teeth and gums where normal brushing may be ineffective.
