DIY Teeth Cleaning
Do-it-yourself or DIY teeth cleaning is necessary for healthy teeth and gums, and fresh breath. As soon as a child can hold a toothbrush, he should begin cleaning his teeth twice a day. Once the permanent teeth emerge, these are the only natural teeth we will have for the rest of our lives. Keeping the teeth clean reduces the chance of developing gum disease and cavities that can lead to tooth loss.Things You'll Need
- ADA-approved toothpaste
- Toothbrush
- Dental floss
- ADA-approved mouthwash
Instructions
Choose toothpaste approved by the American Dental Association. These toothpastes contain fluoride, which strengthens the tooth enamel.
Squeeze a pea-size glob of toothpaste on a wet, soft-bristle toothbrush.
Brush the teeth in circular motions for 2 to 4 minutes. Rinse out the mouth with warm water.
Floss between and around each tooth with dental floss at least once a day.
Rinse the mouth with mouthwash approved by the ADA after brushing.
