Understanding the Aorta: The Three Major Branches Explained
The three main branches of the aorta are:
1. Brachiocephalic trunk: This is the first branch of the aorta and divides into the right subclavian artery, which supplies blood to the right arm and head, and the right common carotid artery, which supplies blood to the right side of the head and neck.
2. Left common carotid artery: This artery branches off the aortic arch and supplies oxygenated blood to the left side of the head, neck, and brain.
3. Left subclavian artery: This artery also branches off the aortic arch and supplies oxygenated blood to the left arm and shoulder.
