How to Relieve Swollen Gums From a Sinus Infection
The sinuses and the upper teeth are connected through the maxillary sinuses. If the upper gums become infected due to periodontal disease or bacterial infection, it may cause the gums to swell and develop into a sinus infection. The sinus toothache usually causes pain in the upper back teeth and gums. This can lead to gum swelling, facial swelling and headache. The pain can be alleviated with the right treatment.Things You'll Need
- Orajel
- Ibuprofen
- Acetaminophen
- Cotton swabs
- Ice
Instructions
Take ibuprofen to decrease the swelling and acetaminophen for pain. Alternate painkillers every four hours for maximum effectiveness.
Apply Orajel. Put a small amount on a cotton swab and run it over the infected area. Apply as recommended for pain.
Suck on crushed ice cubes. This will help numb the swollen gums until you can get to a doctor.
See a doctor and get a diagnosis. You may need to see a dentist as well in order to clean the infection. You most likely will have to take tetracycline four times per day in 500 mg capsules.
