Baby Rolling Over: When & How to Encourage It
Most babies start to roll over from their back to their tummy between 2 and 4 months of age. Some babies may roll over earlier, while others may take a little longer. There is no need to worry if your baby is not rolling over yet, as they will do so in their own time. Here are some tips to help encourage your baby to roll over:
Tummy time: This is the best way to encourage your baby to roll over. Place your baby on their tummy for a few minutes every day, several times a day. You can make tummy time more fun by placing interesting toys in front of your baby or by getting down on the floor and playing with them. This helps strengthen the muscles in their neck, back, and arms, which are all necessary for rolling over.
Help them practice: You can help your baby practice rolling over by gently guiding them. To do this, place your baby on their back and hold their hand. Then, slowly pull their hand towards their opposite shoulder. This will help them to roll over.
Encourage them to reach: Place toys just out of your baby's reach so they have to stretch to get them. This will help them build the coordination and strength they need to roll over.
Talk to your doctor: If you are concerned about your baby's development, talk to your doctor. They can assess your baby's progress and make sure that they are on track.
