For at least the first 24 hours following your extraction procedure, avoid smoking, drinking from a straw, and strenuous exercise. If you smoke, be aware that the suction applied by puffing on a cigarette may induce complications and dislodge the blood clot that has been placed to support the healing process of the surgical site. This could prolong the healing process or cause serious complications.
