Wisdom Teeth Removal: Gauze Placement & Post-Op Care

Typically, gauze should be kept in place for 30-45 minutes after wisdom teeth removal to help control bleeding. After this time, the gauze should be removed and the socket should be left empty. Avoid rinsing, spitting, or using straws for the first 24 hours after surgery, as this can disturb the blood clot that is forming and slow the healing process.
