Wisdom Tooth Extraction: Post-Operative Care & Cleaning
After you get a wisdom tooth extracted, it is very important to keep the area clean for several weeks after the procedure is done. After a few weeks, the process of cleaning the wisdom tooth extraction site will be less complicated than it was after the first few days because you should no longer have bleeding or swelling. However, there are still specific things that you must do to continue to keep the site clean.Things You'll Need
- Cup
- Warm water
- Salt
- Spoon
Instructions
Fill a cup with warm water with about 8 ounces of warm water.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of regular table salt to the water and stir until all the salt is dissolved.
Swish the warm salt water in your mouth, keeping as much of the liquid as possible over the wisdom tooth extraction site.
Spit out the salt water after you rinse. Do not swallow it.
Rinse your mouth with warm salt water before you go to sleep at night and after each meal.
