Post-D&C Period: What to Expect & How Long It Lasts
After a dilatation and curettage (D&C) procedure, the length of time your period lasts may vary. Typically, it can last anywhere from one to two weeks. However, it is important to note that everyone's experience is different and the duration of your period may vary depending on your individual circumstances.
During the first week after your procedure, you may experience heavier bleeding than a typical period. This is normal and should gradually decrease over time. You may also experience some cramping, as well as spotting or light bleeding for several weeks after the procedure.
If your period lasts longer than two weeks or if your symptoms become more severe or concerning, it is important to consult your doctor. They can assess your condition and determine if any additional treatment or evaluation is necessary.
