Braces Placement: What to Expect During Your Orthodontic Appointment
It typically takes an hour or two for an orthodontist to place braces on your teeth. The actual bonding process takes only a few minutes per tooth, but the orthodontist will also need to take time to:
- Examine your teeth and gums.
- Clean your teeth thoroughly.
- Dry your teeth completely.
- Apply adhesive to your teeth.
- Position the brackets on your teeth and bond them in place.
- Trim any excess adhesive.
- Check your bite to make sure that the braces are properly aligned.
You may experience some discomfort after your braces are put on, but this should only last for a few days.
