Invisalign: A Complete Guide to Wearing & Caring for Clear Aligners
Invisalign braces are removable braces engineered to be unnoticeable. They are made of clear plastic and molded to fit your teeth. Every two weeks, a new set (a tray) is inserted. Within 12 to 16 months, and approximately 30 to 35 trays, your teeth should be in alignment. How should you wear your braces? How should you clean them? Do you really need to wear them all the time? What are attachments?Things You'll Need
- Soap and water
- Braces case
Instructions
Wear the braces at all times unless you are eating. If you have to remove them for a few hours, remove only the top tray
Brush your teeth before re-inserting braces. This eliminates sugar being trapped on your teeth
Clean your braces once a day. Use a child's toothbrush, soap and hot water
When not in use, store braces in the provided case. If your dentist gives you two cases, keep one in your car and one in your home
The dentist might recommend attachments which are dental material adhered to the outside of select teeth which fit into holes in the trays. They are designed to firmly hold the braces in place. Make sure you understand attachments before they are adhered and be aware they may irritate the inside of your mouth
Because a new tray may make your teeth sore, insert the new tray at night before going to sleep
At each appointment, you'll receive four trays that cover eight weeks. Be aware that you'll need to visit your dentist every eight weeks
