Wound
A wound is a physical injury that damages the continuity of the skin or other external or internal surfaces of the body. The causes of injury include trauma from accidents, burns, surgery, infection, and bites, to name a few. Wounds may bleed, and they may show a variety of other symptoms including pain, tenderness, bruising, redness, swelling, inflammation, discoloration, and deformity.
The four stages of wound healing are:
(1) Bleeding & clotting
(2) Inflammatory or proliferative
(3) Migratory or regenerative
(4) Maturation or remodeling.
