Typhus Transmission: How Lice and Fleas Spread the Disease

Typhus is spread by lice or fleas that have fed upon infected people. The infection is not spread by contact with an infected person, only through the bites of infected lice or fleas. Therefore, typhus is not considered to be very contagious.
