Aircast Inflation Guide: Step-by-Step Instructions
Doctors prescribe Aircasts for a variety of ankle injuries, including edemas, sprains, fractures and soft tissue injuries. The cast features two inflatable pockets around the ankle, designed to comfortably support the injured region. Aircasts include a hand pump used to manually inflate air pockets to the required level.
Instructions
Secure the Aircast around your injured ankle according to your physician's guidelines, or the instructions included with your brace. A new Aircast should be inflated already.
Insert the inflate tip of the hand pump into the brace valve located on the outside of the cast. Cover the pressure-relief valve with one finger.
Squeeze the hand pump, until the cast is inflated to your liking. It should feel snug around your ankle without restricting circulation.
Remove your finger from the pressure-relief valve for 3 to 5 seconds. Remove the pump from the brace valve.
Deflate the cast by placing the deflate tip of the hand pump into the valve. Squeeze the hand pump to deflate the cast.
