Sprain Recovery: What to Avoid for Faster Healing
Things you should NOT do:- Ignore it. Sprains can be serious injuries, so it's important to see a doctor if you think you have one.
- Try to walk on it. This could worsen the injury and make it take longer to heal.
- Apply heat. This can increase inflammation and swelling.
- Massage the area. This could also worsen the injury.
- Wrap the area tightly. This could restrict blood flow and delay healing.
- Take anti-inflammatory medication without consulting your doctor. Some anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen and naproxen, can slow down healing.
