Snoring Solutions: A Guide to Recording and Understanding Your Sleep Sounds
Loud snoring is a problem that many people have, and it can be very annoying and frustrating for their partners. Loud snoring also may be a sign of an underlying health issue. The problem with snoring is that most people typically are not even aware that they snore. To find out how bad your snoring problem is, tape yourself while you sleep. This can be easily done using a small voice recorder.Things You'll Need
- Digital voice recorder with voice-activated recording
- External microphone (recommended)
Instructions
Purchase a digital or analog voice recorder if you do not already own one. These typically are cheap in price and very small. They can be found at almost any electronics or retail store.
Set your digital voice recorder for voice-activated recording, which you can find in the settings of the recorder. When this is set, the recorder will begin recording automatically when a sound is picked up.
Attach an external microphone, which can be plugged into the recorder's external mic, or line-in, jack. An external microphone is recommended for the best reception of the snoring sound. A good microphone to use is a small clip mic. This is a small microphone that can clip onto your shirt and is sensitive enough to pick up sounds clearly.
Review the recorded sound. Press the play button and listen closely to the sound of your snoring. If you notice that your snoring is abnormally loud, or that something sounds strange, take the recorder to your doctor and play him the recorded audio.
