Wake Up Refreshed: Proven Strategies to Conquer Morning Sleepiness
Avoiding sleepiness in the morning is a battle that adults have fought for centuries. In part, it is the appeal of staying in the comfort of a warm bed for just a few more minutes, while it also can be attributed to some habits that, for one reason or another, have just become more and more difficult to break. The most important aspect of avoiding sleepiness in the morning, of course, is ensuring that you get a good night's sleep.
Instructions
Determine an earlier time to go to bed than you are accustomed to. If you usually go to bed at around 11 p.m. and must be up at 6 the following morning, make it a point to get to bed between 9:30 and 10 p.m.
Avoid sugars and caffeine after 6 p.m. to allow your system to slow itself down gradually. When you find yourself becoming tired, allow yourself to go to bed, rather than waiting for a specific time. If it helps, record your favorite evening shows to watch later.
Set your alarm clock for a half an hour earlier than you usually get up. This allows you to hit the snooze button a few times before you have to get up, and by that time, your mind will be fully awake and ready to start the day.
