Understanding Somniloquy: Why People Talk in Their Sleep

When someone appears to be speaking with their eyes open while asleep, it’s a condition often referred to as somniloquy, or sleep talking. It's part of a category of behaviors known as parasomnias, which encompass unusual occurrences related to sleep. Sleep talking during periods of slow-wave (deep) sleep can involve making sounds or even holding complex conversations for a significant stretch, all unconsciously.
