How to Get Nits Loose
Louse or lice are live parasites that live on the scalp and body of humans. The eggs they lay and attach to the base of hairs are called nits. Because they attach to the actual hair, it can be difficult to get rid of nits. Because nits need the humidity and warmth associated with human hair, if you remove the nit from your hair, you remove their ability to grow and hatch.Things You'll Need
- Vinegar
- Nit-loosening lotion
- Lice comb
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
Instructions
Home Remedies
Saturate your hair thoroughly with vinegar. You can use white distilled vinegar or apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar will have the added benefits of soothing the scalp and promoting general skin heat. Apply the vinegar prior to bedtime.
Use your finger tips to rub the vinegar into your scalp.
Leave the vinegar to dry overnight.
Wash and dry your hair as you normally would.
Commercial Treatments
Apply a nit-loosening lotion to your hair. The specific instructions for proper application should be followed from the product's bottle.
Comb your hair with a lice comb. These usually come with the nit lotion. If yours does not, check with a pharmacy for a lice comb. Combing will remove any nit and lice left behind after the treatment. As you comb, it will also crush live lice.
Wash your hair thoroughly, using your standard shampoo and conditioner, to remove any loose nits left in the hair.
Apply a second treatment of the lotion after seven days to remove any lice that hatched since the nit were removed a week prior.
