How to Avoid Rug Burns
When you push or drag your skin against a carpet and it turns red and gets raw, burned and irritated, that is rug burn. The top few layers of the skin have been scraped off. Treat the rug burn as soon as possible, by flushing it with cold water and drying it completely. Keep fabric away from the rug burn to avoid further irritation. Take precautions to prevent this painful injury.Things You'll Need
- Pants
- Long sleeved shirts
- Towel
Instructions
Wear pants and long sleeves whenever you are at risk of getting rug burns. The clothing will help protect you.
Place a towel underneath your knees when you are cleaning walls and floors, to prevent friction between the rug and your knees.
Lift your arms up, if you are sliding down a plastic, metal or vinyl slide. This will prevent friction between your skin and the slide, which will cause burns.
