How to Re-calibrate a CPAP
A CPAP is a piece of medical equipment that assists individuals with their respiratory functions. The CPAP provides the patient with continuous positive air pressure which helps to keep the airways of the patient open and air flowing freely. CPAP machines are considered medical equipment and as such it is recommended that patients do not try to perform major repairs on the equipment. However, if the CPAP machine is producing warm air that is uncomfortable, there are some steps the patient can take to rectify the situation.Things You'll Need
- CPAP machine
- CPAP air filter
Instructions
Sit the CPAP in a clear area.
Check the filter location on the CPAP and verify that there isn't anything laying on or obstructing the flow of air into the filter.
Use a vacuum hose and vacuum away any dust or hair that may have collected between the slots that lead to the filter on the CPAP.
Remove the old filter and replace with a new filter. Take care to ensure the filter is pressed all the way into place.
Add a second length of tubing from the mask to the CPAP machine to allow the air to travel farther and cool down prior to reaching the patient.
