Lung Growth & Development: When Do Lungs Fully Mature?
Lung development begins in the embryo and continues after birth. The lungs grow rapidly during the first 8 years of life, and then more slowly until they reach their full size by early adulthood.
On average, the lungs reach their full size by around age 20-25 in women and age 25-30 in men. However, lung growth can vary among individuals and may be influenced by factors such as genetics, environmental exposures, and overall health.
