Hiccups and Height: What's the Connection?
Hiccups do not cause a person to grow taller. They are involuntary spasms of the diaphragm, the muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen. When the diaphragm contracts, it causes the vocal cords to snap together, producing the characteristic hiccup sound.
