Why is a floating rib easily broken?
The 11th and 12 pairs of ribs are considered floating ribs due to their lack of direct attachment to the sternum. This looser connection makes them more vulnerable to movement and potential injury. While any rib can break under significant force, the flexibility of the floating ribs, coupled with their location at the lower part of the rib cage, makes them more susceptible to being broken in certain situations.Muscle Strains - Related Articles
