Measure Your Arch Support: A Simple Guide for Foot Health
Your feet provide the foundation for your body, especially the pelvic bone and spine, so it's important to take care of them. Arch support should be measured to determine what type of foot you have. Extremely high arches or flat feet can eventually cause problems and should be corrected immediately with supports or other shoe inserts. Measuring your arch support is a quick and easy process and requires only a couple of items.Things You'll Need
- Shallow pan
- Water
- Card stock
Instructions
Fill a shallow pan with water. Make sure you pour enough water to get the bottom of your foot wet.
Step onto the pan as you would if you were taking a normal step. Check that the bottom of your foot is completely covered with water.
Step onto the card stock with the wet foot and stand for a moment. Step off the card stock and ensure that you have a clear footprint.
Look at the footprint to determine whether you have a high, medium or low arch. You have a high arch if your footprint reveals your heel, the ball of the foot and a little bit of the outside of your foot. You have a medium arch if you see about half the arch on the card stock. You have a low arch if you see almost your entire footprint on the paper.
