Kidneys: Understanding Their Role in the Urinary System

The urinary system contains the kidneys. The urinary system is responsible for removing waste products from the blood and producing urine. The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs located near the middle of the back, on either side of the spine. They filter waste products from the blood and produce urine, which is then transported to the bladder and excreted from the body.
