Kidney Location: Understanding Retroperitoneal Position
Kidneys are not located within a quadrant. Kidneys are located retroperitoneally, meaning behind the peritoneum which lines the abdominal wall and covers most of the abdominal organs. The right kidney is located just below the liver, while the left kidney is located just below the spleen.
